“Relusional” Christian Reads Atheist’s Book

I began reading The God Delusion today. According to Richard Dawkins I am relusional. “Relusion” is a word suggested to Dawkins to replace the word “delusion” in the title of his book. Dawkins hopes the word relusion will catch on and be used to describe delusion when it is caused by religion.

Religious delusion = relusion. Got it? Henceforth I and my Christian readers shall refer to ourselves as such.

Welcome all readers, Christians and atheists and all points between and around.

‘Relusion’ – finally, something even more toe-curling than Dawkins suggesting that all we atheists refer to ourselves as ‘Brights’. Unfortunately I suspect your tongue was at least partly in cheek, and his was not…

Yes, Mine certainly was and I agree that Richard’s probably was not.

There’s something SO ugly about the way athiests think they’re just so much smarter than everyone else. Vaulting ambition that o’er leaps itself.

I don’t recall in the book Mr Dawkins suggesting that athiests refer to themselves as ‘Brights’. I do recall him writing about the, “‘The-Brights.net’ (an American initiative to rebrand atheists as ‘Brights’ in the same way as homosexuals successfully rebranded themselves as ‘gays’” (Page 380 Paperback Edition Black Swan 2007). Of course you could be talking about some other book, interview or something.

And a little investigation did find this:

Ugh. I’d have to agree with Chris Mooney:

“Bright” is just a poor choice of word. Better luck with the re-rebranding.
