Michael, on his blog Atheist Perspective, has taken theists (me in particular) to task for focusing too much on Dawkins’ tone rather than on the detrimental effects of Christianity. Point taken – I have been talking a lot about that, haven’t I? I shall focus less on it in the future.
In the meantime, the post is called “Moderate Christians – Take some responsibility, stop blaming Dawkins” and it’s worth the time to read.
Michael has become a good e-friend, which is a wonderful by-product of writing this series on Dawkins and atheism.

As much as I appreciate his writiings – what if we are calling out Christian leaders for their mis-interpretations (would he ever hear it)? I am one of those fellows that calls the scriptures as ‘they are’ – but I am sure this athiest like many others would disagree with my perspective (and all I can say is ‘show me a better context than I give’ – they usually can’t). I take offense at Dawkins and Harris for the blatant obvious (and so should all others) – they blame religion for all evils that ever existed…how can this be more bogus? I am not saying this faith hasn’t caused a fair share of problems ( it has) – but were those same abuses sanctioned by Jesus’ teachings? If not, then the religion has another Jesus in their thoughts – not the one in the gospels (who taught ‘love your enemies’). If so, let’s call what we know – the past was wrong on their interpretation – wouldn’t be the 1st time.
