An Atheist’s Perspective
Michael, on his blog Atheist Perspective, has taken theists (me in particular) to task for focusing too much on Dawkins’ tone rather than on the detrimental effects of Christianity. Point taken – I have been talking a lot about that, haven’t I? I shall focus less on it in the future.
In the meantime, the post is called “Moderate Christians – Take some responsibility, stop blaming Dawkins” and it’s worth the time to read.
Michael has become a good e-friend, which is a wonderful by-product of writing this series on Dawkins and atheism.

As much as I appreciate his writiings – what if we are calling out Christian leaders for their mis-interpretations (would he ever hear it)? I am one of those fellows that calls the scriptures as ‘they are’ – but I am sure this athiest like many others would disagree with my perspective (and all I can say is ’show me a better context than I give’ – they usually can’t). I take offense at Dawkins and Harris for the blatant obvious (and so should all others) – they blame religion for all evils that ever existed…how can this be more bogus? I am not saying this faith hasn’t caused a fair share of problems ( it has) – but were those same abuses sanctioned by Jesus’ teachings? If not, then the religion has another Jesus in their thoughts – not the one in the gospels (who taught ‘love your enemies’). If so, let’s call what we know – the past was wrong on their interpretation – wouldn’t be the 1st time.
