This reminds me of the very recent case of the mentally disabled women forced into childbirth after she was raped by her father.

I presume God “making a human being” extends to the initial part of the process too? The part where the woman is raped by her relative? Rape and incest? “Because God makes babies” right John?

As Piper says so emphatically, “You just don’t mess with that!”

Further, the language he uses is not from a man of love but a man of hate, so consumed by his archaic belief system that he cannot but speak to such a topic without resorting to phrases such as ‘chopping up’, or ‘tearing out’ or using words like murder.

He talks about Dogma not being a part of this discussion particularly when deciding about the moment that life begins, yet his entire speech is based on dogma. At no point does he consider any external issues. At no point does he leave god out of the equation to see which humanitarian factors pertain to the discussion.

There are so many good arguments to be made against abortion. I make many of them myself but Piper has singularly failed to do so. This is certainly not a man in any way qualified to speak on this subject.

    Happy holidays by the way!!

  2. Hey Michael, good to hear from you.

I posted this on Facebook as well and, as you can imagine, quite a conversation followed. This link should take you there:

I tend to stay happy on Facebook and angry on Christian blog sites :) Mixing Facebook and anger is never very good :)

  4. As far as I can tell, blog sites themselves are not able to put their faith in Jesus, so if my blog told you it was a Christian blog it might be a liar.

    ;-)

Just as a quick aside I do find it fascinating that so many anti abortion supporters are also massive proponents of guns, war and the death penalty.

I genuinely do find that fascinating. I personally can’t connect with someone that on one hand, uses the sanctity of life argument re. abortion, yet on the other totally dismisses it in relation to killing for other ‘justified’ reasons.

I do assume you’re very much anti war in every situation, no matter what the circumstance, anti gun ownership and anti death penalty? Actually, I hope you’re non of those things because that would make for a brilliant discussion!!!!!

Ok I’ll finally answer the question.

You’re asking me to extend my logic beyond the boundary of reason so I’ll attempt to get my head around it by creating a possible scenario.

So you have this lady who finally in the eight month of pregnancy has decided that being a mommy isn’t quite what she had in mind. She many have entertained the idea of adoption but I think we can agree that she’s likely too stupid or lazy to get things in order on time. So the only thing left to do is ask her doctor to give her the number of a good OB.

Of course by good OB i mean horrible OB. This doctor would have to be nothing less then a monster. He would have to be able to carry out a procedure wherein the baby is terminated while attached to the mother’s body without killing the woman in the process. All this to exploit a strange “loophole” in Canadian law and serve the will of his patient.

My answer to the question is this. I believe the is perfectly fine for someone to go ahead with this providing all parties concerned give consent. We’re talking the doctors, the nurses, the owners of the clinic, everyone. I’m perfectly fine with supporting the actions of a group of people who likely don’t exist.

You’ve got me in the mood to debate again. Do a post about Gay marriage next please! I would like to hear your opinion on the matter from a faith based perspective.

I’ll promise not to assume what your stance is on the issue until you state it if you promise not to assume mine.
