I spoke with someone about what God uses to speak to someone. He can use a book...he once used a burning bush and a donkey, so He truly can use anything. Good thoughts, Michael.

FYI - I updated the text of this review in preparation for it's publication in the next issue of Living Stones Magazine. I didn't do much to it other than clean it up a bit and add a bit of background at the beginning.

Thanks for that!
I've been debating whether or not to read it, and I think I will on the plane trip home. I had work to do today, so I've been avoiding getting into it. But my husband, who never reads fiction, did, and it brought him to tears. He said he didn't agree with all of it, but he had a bigger faith after reading it.
So I'll try it, too!
God bless, Sheila.

I think the book is a breath of fresh air. It is bringing healing to many people and God is using it. Pop over and read my review for a different non-thealogian take on it.

Quoting you: If it does, it’s “orthodox”; if not, it’s “heresy”. Well said. Sounds very very much like a blog that I'm on!

I had determined not to read the book but chose to do so after a friend, whom you know from Victoria, had a long prayed for (on my part) spiritual awakening because of The Shack.

As someone who graduated Seminary, I have to agree with the author. Seminary tends to prepare us in an erudite, intellectual, systemic fashion which is neccessary but it does prepare one much relationally. After I left Seminary I had to pray for the LORD to restore my 'childlike' faith in Him!
