These are from the post “Being Pro-Life Christians Under a Pro-Choice President” by John Piper:
- Are you willing to explain why a baby’s right not to be killed is less important than a woman’s right not to be pregnant?
- Or are you willing to explain why most cities have laws forbidding cruelty to animals, but you oppose laws forbidding cruelty to human fetuses? Are they not at least living animals?
- Or are you willing to explain why government is unwilling to take away the so-called right to abortion on demand even though it harms the unborn child; yet government is increasingly willing to take away the right to smoke, precisely because it harms innocent non-smokers, killing 3,000 non-smokers a year from cancer and as many as 40,000 non-smokers a year from other diseases?
- And if you say that everything hangs on whether the fetus is a human child, are you willing to go before national television in the oval office and defend your support for the “Freedom of Choice Act” by holding in your hand a 21 week old fetus and explaining why this little one does not have the fundamental, moral, and constitutional right to life? Are you willing to say to parents in this church who lost a child at that age and held him in their hands, this being in your hands is not and was not a child with any rights of its own under God or under law?

Those are some great questions. Unfortunately, the pro-choice crowd absolutely refuses to answer the difficult questions. They would have to take responsibility for their first choice (to have sex or not) and that is off-limits because unlimited sexual encounters without consequence is the highest calling of the pro-choice leftists. Without abortion, there would be consequences to their actions. It’s not so much they agree that abortion is a good thing, they can’t imagine a world where abortion wasn’t an option to release them from a choice they made. And it has nothing to do with the proverbial “12 year old that gets raped”…that’s a big red herring.
I don’t know too much about Obama’s take on the issue but I’d have to say the answer for number 4 is going to be “no”. It’s not mentioned but I’m sure he would also be required to wear a bloody apron and hold a butchers knife in the other hand right?
It’s good to see that the term “pro-choice” was used rather then “abortionist” or “anti-life”. Shows progress maybe even a little respect!
I’d be interested in seeing a statistic that shows what percentage of abortions are being done at the 21 week mark. My impression is that it’s pretty close to 0% but I really have no idea.
I don’t have a dog in this fight, but all that I will say is: I will only listen to pro-life AND pro-choice activists who actively take unwanted, abused and drug addicted children into their homes and lives.
You can stand on your soap box and shout your views from either side of this topic, but unless you are doing something to help these unwanted children after they are born (and help do something BEFORE a woman has an unwanted pregnancy), I really don’t care what you think.
Mr. Mielhausen. Thank you for reminding me that unlimited sexual encounters without consequence is my highest calling in life. I had forgot about that. It must have “slipped my rememberance” while I was caring for the abused and unwanted.
Unless you are admitting that you are a “pro-choice leftist”, you’ve confused “soap box” with “high horse”. I do care what you think but it’s tough to convince “pro-choice leftists” that abortion is bad if we argue amongst ourselves.
It’s commendable that you want to care for “unwanted” children but dedicating all of our energy there is trying to catch a fart in a hurricane. There also needs to be a consistent effort to stop the single biggest root cause for abortion…irresponsible men and women who seem to think there is no reason sex should have any consequences other than orgasm.
So what you are saying is that if I am pro-choice or leftist, my beliefs are what you would expect from a left wing fanatic, but if I am a right wing pro-lifer I am sitting on my “high horse” and I am contemptuous and arrogant?
Equating caring for the less fortunate with gastrointestinal gas has to genuinely be one of the most contemptuous and arrogant things I think I have ever read. Honestly.
I agree that one of the biggest causes of abortion is irresponsible men and women, but to paint all women who have abortions as sluts who just want to get off and be damned with the consequences is condescending.
In your opinion all of these women have no remorse or emotional anguish after having an abortion? If these women are so far gone as to really only care about having an orgasm and everything else is inconsequential, do you really think they can be changed?
What are YOU doing to change this?
I agree that it is hard to convince “pro-choice leftists” that abortion is bad. It is also hard to convince “right wing pro-lifers” to stop preaching, and get off of their “high horse” and help the weak and needy.

Michael, to your point:

Mike,
I took a quick look at their site and I was glad to see they offer support for women POST-abortion.
I don’t have time to go in-depth with their site right now (as I should be working) but I am really curious as to what support they offer AFTER the child is born.
My biggest beef (with both sides) is what care is offered by the Pro Life side AFTER the child is born and what care or counseling is offered to the woman by the Pro Choice side after the abortion?
It seems to me that unfortunately more often than not, once the Pro Life side is successful in convincing a woman to NOT have an abortion, too little or nothing at all is done to help the unprepared mother and unwanted child. I see results of this first hand everyday.
Likewise the Pro Choice side offers little in the way of education, counseling or emotional support to a woman after they ensure she has the right to get an abortion.
I see far too many people telling the world what is right or what is wrong and far too few trying to solve or help with the problems that create the issue in the first place or helping to cope and deal with the aftermath.
I would love to see more rich, middle aged white women from Connecticut adopting or fostering crack babies from the hood. Don’t just tell me about Psalm 82:3… Show me by your actions!
Donate money to help start a Pregnancy Centre in your area but also go out and VOLUNTEER and help. Do not condemn a woman with an unwanted pregnancy for her left leaning sexually promiscuous tendencies but offer her a helpful hand, not a scornful tongue.
It is just that for every 100 people I encounter who are vocal (pro-life or pro-choice) on this matter, I meet 1 person who actually does something to help. Volunteer at a woman’s shelter, pregnancy or crisis center, become a big brother, big sister or a foster parent. Live your beliefs through your actions not with your tongue and the silver in your purse.
I am getting off of my soap box now… I am getting dizzy. Man… I hate soap box preachers…
:)

All that being said, I truly commend the people who do the work mentioned in your link, Mike.
I am always against abortion because it is a sin to kill an innocent child..;;
