http://web.mac.com/glensoderholm/glensoderholm/Music_files/cover-TheBrightSadness.jpgAfter the evening worship service on Saturday Glen and David did a 30-minute concert. This was the best 30 minutes of my day. Glen being in the same vein – from the same lineage you could say – as I am as both a writer and a fan, the style and lyrics really resonated with me.

As I mentioned yesterday, Glen and I both draw inspiration from and are fans of Bob Dylan (have a listen to Glen’s cover of “Everything is Broken” here), Bill Mallonee, Ron Sexsmith, Indigo Girls, Mark Heard, and of course Johnny Cash.

His cover of Julie Miller’s “By Way of Sorrow” – also on the new album – is fantastic, and fits right well alongside Glen’s own solid writing.

Glen lives just up the road from me near Toronto, so I’m looking forward to more opportunities to see him perform and interact with him.

His site is here.
