In general I would agree that effective ministry is done through real relationships, which are all about one to one or one to very few. I look t Jesus' life and ministry and see the same model ... mostly. He was all about the person. He touched the leper, which was seriously not cool in his culture, because he saw a person. He invested huge in 12 people and even more in 3 of those 12. That is a solid ministry model you can apply in any situation.

The thing is, he also spoke to thousands in a time when the population was pretty insignificant compared to today. Most mega churches where pastor's speak to those size crowds are in large cities or near large cities. You are talking about pretty small percentages of the whole. Compare that to Jesus who filled the mountainside with probably everyone in the area.

He wanted the message to get out.

Now what does that mean to us? Well quite frankly I think we should be concerned with getting the message out. I think we need to build relationships and lift each other up. I think churches in a community should work together to be able to provide the services we once did instead of letting the government do it and complaining about big government. We need to see mega churches joining hands with the small home church and everyone in between and empower the people of God to do the work of God. I'm pretty certain that is what the "5 fold ministry" of the church is about if I read my Bible correctly.
