Personally I dislike hillsongs, rock music, christian rock music etc. From a musical point of view, all rock music are the same, no matter if it is sacred or secular. I believe that if one subsitues the lyrics and adds words like “Jesus” Lord, Savior etc, it does not make it a “Christian song”.

I am with you when it comes to Christian bookstores with its Jesus junk and music. I am amazed how you found out the songs by Chris Tomlin without ads or marketing.

“but now they’ve become evangelists for a representative of Christ rather Christ himself.” Well-written. You try to call them out, they will lash back at you for not being Christian.

Took a small glimpse at the “I’m a Pastor…but not THAT KIND” post, and the cartoons, polite on the surface but thought-provoking underneath.

Came across this because I was curious of how Christians perceive Rage Against the Machine, and thanks to Google, it’s a well-formed, thoughtful opinion. While I was unable to see the Christianized “Bulls on Parade,” I’m glad I didn’t.

I’m also glad you didn’t post “Jesus died for Myspace in heaven” as a t-shirt example. I find that one to be the most repulsive.

What’s wrong to the lyrics? It’s up to you whether you’ll mean the lyrics of the song senselessly or you sing the lyrics of the song to “Jesus”. And I strongly believe that the composer and singers of these songs have made everything out of this FOR JESUS..

Michael, you call it like it is. We all have sin, and we all walk in some measure of error. Our job is to find the truth and correct in love. But some make a career out of finding every small distortion – and making sure everyone else knows. I’m so glad God is not like that, and I wonder what God these folks serve? Its awfully self-justifying, and there are a lot of big logs in the eyes of those who live in fear.
